Madaraka means freedom in Swahili and on Saturday June 1st was Madaraka day, which is a national holiday that signifies when Kenya gained self-rule from the British Colonialist. Since it is a public holiday there is no work or school on this day. The children of Spring Valley marked the day by having a wonderful and fun sports day organized by the Youth of the church with the support of Pastor Stanley, tr. Alice and tr. Jesse. The children and the youth went to a nearby field that’s close to the school and there the children participated in different sports activities like;
The children were divided into different teams and the winners received prizes. The children had a lot of fun doing outdoor activities and relaxing from academic work. The children also had snacks that included candy, cookies and juice provided by Pastor Stanley and Tr. Alice. It was a day well-spent and the children have returned to class today rejuvenated excited and happy.We want to sincerely thank our partners whose love care prayers and contribution make it possible for Pastor Stanley and Tr. Alice to put a smile on a child’s face. May the Lord bless you our partners always for the wonderful difference your helping to make in a child of Spring Valley!!
