On Sunday July 19th all the churches in Kenya congregated for the first time after 4 months of lockdown due to the pandemic. Only 100 people are allowed to congregate in the church service and the church service can only last for one hour.
Here in Spring Valley the congregation came but only 100 people were allowed in the church to obey the government guidelines. The members had to wash their hands as soon as they entered the church and school compound and then their temperatures were taken at the church door and they were also sanitized as they entered the church.
The service was only one hour long but everyone was just grateful to meet and pray together. All the congregants left as soon as the service ended. The Covid cases in Kenya are sky rocketing each and every day and yesterday a very famous actor in Kenya died because of the virus. The country now has over 13,000 cases and 200 deaths and we foresee a scenario in the future where the president will lock down the country again if the trend continues.
Here in the school we continue to feed the children as we talk to the community about the virus and how to stay safe. Today Pastor Stanley, Tr. Alice and Tr. Jesse organized for all the staff members to get free hand sanitizers so they can keep safe and protect themselves from the virus.
We want to thank you all our partners and friends for all you do for us and we want you to know we are praying for each one of you for the Lord to protect each one of you during these tough times.
